Elaine Devine's Campaign for City Council
Join us in supporting Elaine Devine for City Council, a candidate who values responsible and community-centered development. Together, let's create a better future for Beaumont. It is so important if you want change to get out and vote. In Alberta 90% of people running for re-election are voted in due to name recognition.
Why I’m Running
Beaumont is changing quickly—but not always for the better. From neglected properties and poor planning to limited services and rising frustration, it’s time for a new voice on council. I’m running to:
- Fix flawed development policies
- Improve infrastructure and services
- Support local businesses
- Restore transparency and trust
Beaumont Is Growing—Let’s Grow Smart
Beaumont is one of Alberta’s fastest-growing communities. That growth brings opportunity—but also rising costs.
- Population (2024): 24,593
- 5-Year Growth: +23.0%
- Annual Growth Rate: ~5.83%
- Property Assessment (2024): $3.7 billion (↑10.1% from 2023)
- 2025 Proposed Municipal Tax Levy Increase: 5.82%
- Additional 1.88% for RCMP contract costs
- Impact on Homeowners: A home assessed at $471,000 will pay $248.63 more/year in 2025
This level of growth should be a financial advantage—not a burden on residents. But instead of leveraging growth, the city continues to raise taxes.
How We Can Grow Without Costing Taxpayers
We can fund our future without asking more from residents. Here’s how:
Make Our Facilities Work for Us
Beaumont owns valuable public spaces, community halls, sports fields, and recreation centers, that are underutilized. As your councillor, I will:
- Promote rentals for weddings, birthdays, and corporate events
- Partner with local vendors to offer bundled services
- Introduce tiered pricing for residents, non-residents, and businesses
- Launch a modern online booking system for easy access
This approach increases revenue, supports local businesses, and brings life to our community spaces.
Build a Local Tourism Economy
Beaumont has the charm and potential to be a regional destination. I will:
- Support festivals, tournaments, and seasonal markets
- Collaborate with Travel Alberta and regional tourism boards
- Apply for tourism grants to fund new initiatives
- Create event packages with local businesses
More visitors mean more local spending, stronger businesses, and greater community pride.
Embrace Digital Efficiency
Smart cities use smart tools. I will:
- Digitize permitting, licensing, and payments
- Use data analytics to improve service delivery and reduce waste
- Apply for provincial innovation grants
- Launch user-friendly portals for facility rentals and city services
This means lower operating costs, faster service, and better transparency for residents.
Partner for Progress
We can build better infrastructure without burdening taxpayers. I will:
- Explore public-private partnerships for recreation, and transit
- Use Alberta’s P3 framework to ensure transparency and accountability
- Attract private investment while maintaining public control
This brings innovation and investment to Beaumont—without raising taxes.
